My Journey into Handmade Soaps and Tallow Products

As a busy mother of three active children, I understand the challenges of balancing caregiving and work. My children are neurodivergent, and supporting them as they face increasing challenges requires flexibility and dedication. In 2024, when my health began to deteriorate, I needed a way to stay productive and engaged from home. That’s when I started making soaps — a creative outlet that also allowed me to support my family.

Like many parents, I faced daily messes — sticky fingers all over the walls, grease, oil, pen, and paint that store-bought soaps simply couldn’t tackle. Once I started crafting my own handmade soaps, I discovered they effortlessly removed all kinds of grime. This led me to investigate the ingredients in commercial soaps, and I was surprised to find most contained unpronounceable chemicals and, interestingly, no real soap at all.

Motivated by a desire for pure, effective, and natural products, I began creating my own formulations. This journey introduced me to the benefits of tallow — a traditional, nourishing ingredient I render myself from grass-fed beef raised in the beautiful Scottish town of St Andrews. My goal is to craft products that are safe, beneficial, and suitable for daily use, helping others find the same confidence in natural skincare and cleaning solutions.

Starting this business has not only allowed me to create a flexible career that fits around my family’s needs but also to share the benefits of natural, simple ingredients with others. My soaps and tallow products reflect my commitment to quality, sustainability, and the well-being of my family and community.
